PRINCETON -- Myrtle Johnson Kornegay, 87, died Tuesday morning in Woodard Care Inc.

Born Oct. 18, 1924, in Johnston County to the late Joseph Marshall and Cora Ingram Johnson, she was the widow of William Franklin "Willie" Kornegay, who died July 14, 2005.

Myrtle was a member of Princeton United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

A burial service will be 10 a.m. Friday in the cemetery at Progressive Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her son, Mac Kornegay and his wife, Deborah, of Princeton and a sister, Ann Sutton of Mobile Ala.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2418 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 206, Raleigh, N.C., 27607.
