Mrs. Cora Hooks Ford, 82, lovingly known by her family and friends as "Mama Cora," 380 Country Day Road, Goldsboro, graciously departed her life Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

"Mama Cora" was born in Wayne County Aug. 7, 1929, to the late Cora Coley Hooks and Thomas Hooks.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sylvester Ford.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Eastern Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1401 N. Carolina St., Goldsboro, with pastor Timothy Dortch officiating. Interment will follow in Hooks Grove Church Cemetery, 290 Hooks Grove Church Road NW, Pikeville, N.C., 27863.

A public viewing will be held Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at McIntyre Funeral Home and Florist, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., from
2 to 6 p.m.

"Mama Cora" leaves to cherish her loving and precious memory a daughter, Miriam Peppers; three sons, Anthony Ford, John Ford and William Ford; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at 108 Sandy Drive, Goldsboro, where the family and friends will assemble one hour prior to the funeral in preparation for the funeral procession.
