Helen Warrick Collins, 82, passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, surrounded by her family at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Helen was born in Wayne County Jan. 16, 1929, to the late Mallie Avery Warrick and Lela Langston Warrick. She was married to the late Hoover Collins.

Helen worked for many years in sales at Woolworth.

She had a great love for gardening as her yard did always show, and will be remembered by her family and many others as an excellent cook.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at 7 p.m. at Jefferson United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Alice Davis and the Rev. Doug Johnson officiating. Interment will be Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Deans Family Cemetery.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Joyce White and husband, Bill, of Washington, Darlene Thigpen and husband, Gary, of Goldsboro and Charlotte Parchman and husband, Robert, of Pikeville; her grandchildren, Sterling Thigpen, Emily W. Shanks and husband, Ed, and Adam Parchman and wife, Emily.

She is also survived by her sister, Geraldine Faircloth of Durham.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Evelyn W. Cox, Betty Burleson and Margaret Farmer, and her brothers, Merle, Paul, Walter and Bert Warrick.

The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service, and other times at her home.
