LARRY HINES

March 21, 1947-Dec. 9, 2011

Larry Hines was born March 21, 1947, to the late William and Helen Hines. He departed this earth surrounded by family Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center from a battle with cancer.

Larry served time in the United States Army, and was a Vietnam veteran.

After he was honorably discharged from the military, he became an independent truck driver.

He leaves to cherish his memory a wife, Brenda Hines of the home; a daughter, Apryl Atkinson Darby of Dudley; two sons, Sean Atkinson of Fremont, N.H., and Andre (Latoya Richard) Atkinson of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Myiesha Atkinson, Tameika Darby, Victoria Darby and Nicholas Atkinson Richard all of Goldsboro; three sisters, Janet (Fred) Teasley of Goldsboro, Dianne (Larry) Lewis of Smithfield and Phyllis Whitley of Goldsboro; a brother, William (Shelby) Hines Jr. of Raleigh; and a host of other relatives and close friends.

We the family would like to send a very special thanks to Southeastern Medical Oncology Center for its support and service.

A viewing will be held Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at 1 p.m. at E.M. Matthews Life Celebration Chapel, 401 N. William St., Goldsboro.

A service of remembrance will immediately follow at 2 p.m.

Following the services in the sanctuary, Mr. Hines' delicate temple, along with his adored family, will be escorted to Old Mill Cemetery for interment rites.

Mr. Hines' earthen vessel is peacefully resting at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home, where the Hines and connected families are receiving prestigious service.
