Vera N. Sills, 83, surrounded by her family, died Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Herbert H. and Elma Costin Newell. She was married for 43 years to the late Marvin P. Sills, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was a member of Brogden United Methodist Church.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Uiyeon Kim officiating.

The family will visit with friends from 11 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the cemetery. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Howard and Brenda Tyndall, 106 Elm Ave., Goldsboro.

She is survived by her son, Marvin Earl Sills and friend, Dorothy Brown, of Benson; daughter, Brenda Sills Tyndall and husband, Howard, of Goldsboro; sisters, Joann Newell Britt and husband, Billy, of Goldsboro and Jan Newell Jamison of Goldsboro; brother-in-law, Norton Bateman of Goldsboro; the love of her life, two grandchildren, Amanda Diane Tyndall and Marvin Earl Sills Jr. and wife, Mary Helen; and two great-grandchildren, McKinley Sills and Maddox Sills.

She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her loving dog, Pebbles.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Corrine Lewis, Rose Ray, Edith Gray, Nell Bateman, and brother-in-law, Dallas Lewis.

The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful angels at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, the many caregivers at the Brian Center and special friend, Gert Coley, "her Annie."

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Brogden Methodist Church, 2918 U.S. 117 South, Dudley, N.C., 28333.
