GEORGE WENDELL FISHER III

KINSTON -- George Wendell Fisher III, 57, of Kinston passed away on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011.

Funeral services will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at 10 a.m. with Father Bill John Escobar-Acosta officiating. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Born in Rochester, N.Y. on Nov. 23, 1953, he was the son of the late George Wendell Fisher Jr. and Ann Solimano Fisher.

George was the owner and operator of Auto and Muffler Center in Kinston. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a faithful member of the Sandy Bottom Volunteer Fire and Rescue since 1988 where he served as chief, assistant chief, and currently as president of the Board of Directors. The light of his life was being "Papa" to his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy Fisher of the home; daughters, Jennifer Fisher McLawhorn and husband, Daniel, of Deep Run and Lindsay Fisher Dearie and husband, Brendan, of Wilmington; grandchildren, Ethan Troy McLawhorn and Anna George Reagan McLawhorn; god-daughter, Lauren Elizabeth Melton of Greenville; sister, Mary Lou Fisher Goetze and husband, Paul, of Meppen, Ill.; nieces, Ann Marie Pohlman and Patricia Goetze; nephews, Greg Warren and Michael Warren. He is also survived by the many devoted men and women of the Sandy Bottom Volunteer Fire and Rescue.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. tonight, Sept. 25, 2011, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
