BALTIMORE, Md. -- Elgene Lewis Sr., 85, 1702 Darley Ave., Baltimore, Md., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14, in Manor Care Rehabilitation Center Roland Park in Baltimore, Md.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Lena Sauls Lewis, and two siblings, Raymond Lewis and Lila Pearl Lewis Spruill.
Funeral services will be held in Goldsboro Saturday, Sept. 24, at noon at Woods Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro. Interment will follow at Old Mill Cemetery.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, Clara Parks Lewis of Baltimore; a son, Elgene Lewis Jr.; two grandchildren, Elgene Lewis III and Angela Brown all of Baltimore; his siblings, LeHonor Lewis of Baltimore, Odell Lewis of Goldsboro, Frizzell Lewis Sr., (Mildred) of Union, N.J., Adell Rodgers of Durham and Alee Lewis of Goldsboro; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 23, from 2 to 8 p.m., with family present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Haskins Funeral Home, 601 E. Ash St., Goldsboro.
The family will gather at the home of his sister, Alee Lewis of 902-B S. John St., in preparation for the funeral procession.
