Charles Nelson Snipes, 70, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Charlie was born in Wayne County May 31, 1941, to the late Charles Edward Snipes and Louise Benton Snipes.

He owned and operated Charlie Snipes Truck Broker in Selma.

Charlie was a faithful member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church.

For those who knew him, Charlie will be remembered by his quick wit and his smile. The loves in Charlie's life were God, family and friends.

A service to celebrate Charlie's life will be held at Faith Free Will Baptist Church Friday, July 15, 2011, at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Dann Patrick officiating. Interment will be Saturday, July 16, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Charlie is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Joyce Elmore Snipes; his daughters, Jane Carraway and husband, Mike, of Mechanicsville, Va., and Judy Holloman and husband, Marc, of Princeton; his grandchildren, Melanie, Katie and Eli Carraway and Ariel and Carissa Holloman; his sister, Carol Ray Skipper and husband, Chester, of Gainesville, Fla.; a brother, Ronnie C. Snipes and wife, Ann, of Kernersville; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Fowlkes of Garner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry E. Snipes.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the teachers fund at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, 1200 W. Grantham St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The family will continue the celebration, remembering Charlie's life following the service with a reception and visitation in the fellowship hall of Faith Free Will Baptist Church.
