YVETTE TERRI (TERAY) "SWEETPEA" OLIVER

Feb. 2, 1967-July 9, 2011

BRONX, N.Y. -- "Sweatpea" quietly answered God's call at 5:25 p.m. at Montefiore Hospital surrounded by her beloved family. She said her good-byes as God received her soul saying "Welcome my good and faithful servant."

A home-going celebration was held Saturday, July 16, 2011, at East Ward Baptist Church, East Harlem, N.Y. Her mortal remains were laid to rest in Hartsdale, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Oliver Jr., and her grandmother, formerly of Mount Olive, Ethel Carlton Oliver. She was a native New Yorker and she received her education in the New York City Public Schools. She grew up to be a warm and compassionate woman who never met a stranger. If someone was hungry, she fed them, and if they needed a place to rest, she invited them to stay for as long as they wanted.

She leaves to cherish her memories four children, Celia Tyisha, Eric, Erin and Khadijah Ethelene; her mother and stepfather, Betty and James Gregory; siblings, Diane and Tara, a special nephew, Anton; a special niece, Phyllia; her "soul mate," Kenneth "Jamel" Clarke; special cousins, Keith Jr., Keith Sr., Deidre Lynn and siblings; one uncle, Larry Oliver Sr.; one aunt, Linda Darnell of Mount Olive; and a host of the Carlton, Oliver and Pearsall relatives.

The family is being serviced by Florence E. Brown Funeral of East Harlem, N.Y.
