Earl Drewery Stewart, 75, 509 Todd Drive, died Tuesday at his home.

Born in Danville, Va., he was the son of the late James F. Stewart and Alma Geneva Andrews Stewart.

Mr. Stewart had retired from the United States Air Force with 23 years of service, and had received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a Vietnam Veteran, where he flew more than 300 missions, had worked as a loadmaster supervisor and truly loved his country.

Mr. Stewart graduated from Piedmont Technical College with an Associate in Applied Science in accounting and an Associate in Applied Science in industrial management technology.

He had also worked at CP&L, and finally the University of Chapel Hill Power Plant.

Mr. Stewart was a member of Masonic Lodge, and was a former director of the ASPC, both in Roxboro.

He attended Leas Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Rachel Shelton Stewart of the home; three daughters, Teresa Stewart of the home, Cheryl Stewart of Apex and Yvonne Stewart Delay and husband, Tom of Apex; seven grandchildren, Rachel Ariel Wesley, Donald Wesley, Taylor Wesley, Tyler Wesley, Jeremy Delay, Erin Delay and Diana Reaves; and a great-granddaughter, Madelynn Begley.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. at the Brooks and White Funeral Home chapel, by the Rev. Billy Edwards. Interment will follow at Person Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Delay, Jeremy Delay, Donald Wesley, Clint Roach, Curt Watson, Joseph "Tony" Shelton, Earl Shelton and Earl Shelton Jr.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Brooks and White Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Lorena and Bill Weaver, 554 Long's Store Road, Roxboro, N.C. 27574.

Memorials may be made to the Disabled Veteran's Person County Chapter, 187 Ellis Pleasent Drive, Leasburg, N.C., 27291.
