Dollie Mae Horton Mozingo, daughter of the late Clifton Horton Jr. and Viola Gray Horton, was born Nov. 15, 1936, in Wayne County. She departed this walk of life July 5, 2011, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, N.C.

After graduation, she moved to Claxton, Ga., where she taught school for 45 years and retired.

She relocated to Goldsboro, N.C., and taught school again for four years in the Wayne County Schools.

Dollie joined Greater Guiding Star Holy Church in Goldsboro, N.C., where she was a faithful member. She served faithfully in the following ministries: Missionary department, Sunday school, Bible study and vacation Bible school teacher, and was famous for her tributes and dearly, dearly loved children.

She leaves to cherish her memory a goddaughter, Willie Lou (Jimmy) Brooks of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Verna (Leroy) Core of Dudley, N.C., and Mattie (Willie) Artis and Carrie Horton both of Pikeville, N.C.; a brother, Lawyer (Barbara) Horton of Dudley, N.C.; a stepson, Curtis (Toni) Mozingo of Goldsboro, N.C.; two brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; her adopted family, the Millards; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; and special caretakers, Judy Whitfield, Keisha Mitchell and Caprice Sutton.

A viewing will be held tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at Greater Guiding Star United Holy Church. Following the services in the sanctuary, Ms. Mozingo's delicate vessel, along with her adored family, will be escorted to Wayne Memorial Park for committal rites. There she will remain until that day when our Heavenly Father calls time into eternity and all who are asleep in Christ will be caught up to meet Him in the air.

Prestigious service is rendered to the family of Ms. Mozingo by E.M. Matthews Funeral Home.
