DR. THOMAS EARL STATON

Dr. Thomas Earl Staton, 83, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011, at the Brian Center.
Earl was born in Union County, N.C., Dec. 12, 1927, to the late Dr. Roy Benjamin Staton and Lillian Liles Staton. He was married to Mildred Lowe Staton.
Earl served his country in the United States Army from October 1946 until March 1948.
He graduated from North Carolina State and the University of Georgia with a doctor of veterinary medicine degree.
He retired from the United States Department of Agriculture after many years as a federal veterinarian.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Goldsboro, where he formerly served as a deacon.
He was also actively involved in the Lions Club for many years.
He was a loving father and grandfather to daughters, Carolyn Wood and husband, Joe, of Elon, N.C., and Mary Kay Wells and husband, Dave, of Clinton, N.C.; son, Thomas Earl Staton Jr. of Raleigh; and grandchildren, Joseph Wood, Rachel Wells and Melissa Staton.
There will be a private graveside service at Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe, N.C.
