BESSIE DAUGHTRY STRICKLAND

Bessie D. Strickland passed peacefully into her eternal home Monday, July 4, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

She was born in Johnston County Dec. 2, 1912, to the late Ada Wiggs and Solomon Daughtry. She was married to the late R. Hubert Strickland.

Bessie worked in and around Goldsboro for many years. Her last employment was with The Cloth Barn.

Bessie was a faithful member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, where the service will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Adam Seate.

Visitation will follow the service.

Burial will be private.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bessie was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Mae; brothers, Chester, Arthur, Floyd and Herman Daughtry, and sisters, Flossie Gurley, Lillie Howell and Ada Lee Howell.

She is survived by a daughter, LaRue, and husband, R.L. Sutton; a grandson, Lane Sutton and wife, Renee; and great-grandchildren, Ethan and Abby Sutton.

Bessie, a lovely lady, will be greatly missed by both family and friends.
