DORIS S. HICKS

PIKEVILLE -- Doris Smith Hicks, 93, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Doris was born in Wayne County Dec. 9, 1917, to the late John Oliver Smith and Maude Tyndall Smith. Doris was married to the late Otto Frank Hicks.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Earl Smith and Clifton Smith, and her sisters, Aileen Smith and Dollie Yelverton.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 3, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, located at 610 Mount Carmel Church Road in Pikeville, with the Rev. David Hollowell officiating.
The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall. Interment will be in Pikeville Cemetery.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Branda H. Lane and husband, Dallas, of Wilson and Phyllis H. Marsh and husband, Edward, of Charlotte; her grandchildren, Brian Lane and wife, Susan, of Holly Springs, Cassandra L. Donochod and husband, Daniel, of Cary and Marcus Marsh and wife, Nan Sue, of New York City; her great grandchildren, Matthew and Owen Donochod and Ashley Lola Marsh; and her brother, Durwood Smith and wife, Sarah, of Patetown.
