Nancy Lou Dawson Best, 76, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Nancy was born in Lenoir County June 5, 1934, to the late Wayne C. Dawson and Sarah Bailey Dawson. She was married to the late Waite Thompson Best Sr.

Nancy was a member of Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was also involved with the Morning Circle.

Nancy always enjoyed her many friends, especially while a resident of the Pines.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 3, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dudley Smith officiating. The entombment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Nancy is survived by her children, Waite T. Best Jr. and wife, Patty, Audrey Dawn Best and special friend, Lathan Spann, and Ernie W. Best and wife, Kathy; her grandchildren, Paige Best and Nicholas Best; her stepgranddaughter, Julie Hachett; her sisters and brothers, Delphry Rouse of LaGrange, Kathryn Rouse and husband, Barry, of Snow Hill, Wayne Dawson and wife, Brenda, of Seven Springs and Jimmy Dawson and wife, Ann, of Garner; her brother-in-law, Horace Best and wife, Betty, of Goldsboro; her sister-in-law, Betsy Piner and friend, Catherine Williams, of Savannah, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to WAGES Meals on Wheels program at 601 Royal Ave., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 2, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the home of her daughter, Dawn Best, 469 Powell Road, Goldsboro.

Nancy's family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of the Pines, Mount Olive Rehab and Care, the Brian Center, the sixth-floor staff of Wayne Memorial Hospital and Dr. Robert Meyer and staff for the love and care shown her during her time of declining health.
