PIKEVILLE -- Laura Mae Lancaster Roberts, 90, passed away on Saturday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Saulston United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Carolyn Sims and the Rev. Glenn Mason officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Fremont.

Laura Mae was born in Wayne County to the late Add Monroe Lancaster and Laura Sauls Lancaster. She was married to the late Roy Roberts. Laura Mae's primary goal was the happiness and security of her family. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. Laura Mae always enjoyed visiting with her church family and friends. She could often be found helping others in her community during their time of need with food or with some act of love. Laura Mae was a life-long member of Saulston United Methodist Church.

Laura Mae is survived by her daughters, Ellen Carter and husband, Calvin, of Suffolk, Va., Barbara Jean Harrison and husband, Talmage, of Saulston, and Sharon Smith and husband, William Keith "Rabbit," of Pikeville; her son, Joseph Donald "Joe" Roberts and wife, Linda, of Pikeville; her grandchildren, Laurie Carter Bleh and husband, Jeff, Talmadge Matthew Harrison and wife, Lynn, Jonathan Roy Harrison and wife, Renee, Donna Roberts Carlisle and husband, Doug, Joseph Donald Roberts Jr. and friend, Beth Mays, Michael Roy Roberts and wife, Dianna, Angela Smith Smith and husband, Roger, Jayme Smith McLawhon and husband, Billy, and Tracy Smith Langston and husband, Blake; and her great-grandchildren, Rachel, Rebecca, Mariellen, Ryan, Logan, Jenna, Emily, Chandler, Paul Michael, Brandon, Zack, Taylor Grace, Lauren and Braylee. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as a special niece, Aileen Westbrook.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Margaret Rose, Tom Lancaster, Redden Lancaster, Monroe Lancaster, James Franklin "Jim" Lancaster, Silas Lancaster, Bill Lancaster, Johnny Lancaster, Paul Lancaster and Agnes Head.

Laura Mae's family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Brian Center and her special caregiver, Stephanie Wilcox, as well as the sixth floor nursing staff at Wayne Memorial Hospital, for the love and care shown to their mother during her declining health.

The family will receive friends today, Feb. 13, 2011, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home, 600 True Vine Road, Pikeville.
