JAMES GRAHAM

Jan. 19, 1915-Feb. 8, 2011

Tuesday night, Feb. 8, 2011, a precious jewel was removed from our midst.

Deacon James Graham was born Jan. 19, 1915, to the late Greene Graham and Julia Best Graham. He was the youngest of eight children.

He was reared in Duplin County, and educated in the public school system.

Early in life he met and married the late Julia Ward Graham.

To this union nine children were born. Two infants, a son and a daughter, preceded him in death, Eddie Lee Graham and Clarice Graham Lewis.

Deacon Graham was a faithful member of St. Luke Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, for many years. His faithfulness to the church was a testament of his devotion to God's work.

He retired from Mt. Olive Pickle Co. after several years of service.

Deacon Graham was greatly admired and loved by family and friends. "To know him was to love him"

He leaves to cherish his precious memories five children, James Graham Jr. (Brenda), Archie Graham (Mable) and Gracie Price (Vernon) all of Goldsboro, N.C., Curtis Graham (Deborah) of Dudley, N.C., and Donald Graham (Florece) of Mount Olive; N.C.; son-in-law, Samuel Lewis of Dudley, N.C.; a brother-in-law, Ezekiel Ward (Lillie) of Mount Olive, N.C.; 23 grandchildren (four deceased); 33 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Minnie Ward; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A family visitation will be held today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services to celebrate the life and legacy of Mr. Graham will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Church of Christ. After which, Mr. Graham's delicate vessel, along with his adored family, will be escorted to Ward Cemetery by the E.M. Matthews' angelic white fleet for interment rites.

Services of compassion and distinguished class are rendered by E.M. Matthews Funeral Home.
