LILLIE CAROLINE WHITE PATE

Caroline Pate, 84, passed away peacefully at the Brian Center of Goldsboro Saturday evening.

She was the daughter of the late John W. and Naomi Warren White, and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Pate, and her son, Billy Johnson.

Mrs. Pate came to Wayne County in 1961, and was a well-known restaurant operator, where during her tenure until 2000, she operated The 117 Truck Stop, Central Lunch, Caroline's and The Kopper Kettle.

In addition she was a member of First Baptist Church of Goldsboro.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Goldsboro, with Dr. Glenn Phillips, the Rev. Scott Thrailkill and the Rev. John Johnson officiating.

The family will visit with friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the church parlor. Burial will follow the service in Wayne Memorial Park.

She is survived by her two daughters, Donna Alford and husband, Wayne, and Carolyn Brock and husband, Glenn, both of Goldsboro; three grandchildren, Beth Edmonds, Jennifer A. Jones and husband, Shorty, Glenn Brock Jr. and wife, Beth; five great-grandchildren, Morgan Edmonds, Austin Goff, Carson Edmonds, Bayley Brock and Camden Jones; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and son, Caroline was preceded in death by brothers, Jay and James White, and her sister, Virginia Greene.

The family wishes to thank all the dedicated staff and caregivers at the Brian Center over the last several years. Your love, prayers and concern will not be forgotten.
