CAROL JORDAN MITCHELL

Carol Jordan Mitchell, 71, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family.

Carol was born in Wayne County Sept. 29, 1939, to the late Leslie Raymond Jordan and Nettie Pittman Jordan.

She retired as a registered nurse with Wayne County Public Schools.

Carol was a devoted wife, mother and servant of her belief in God.

She was an active member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church.

For those who knew her, Carol will be remembered as a generous, caring, compassionate lady and loyal friend to so many. The love in Carol's life was God, family and friends. Even during her illness, she never gave up or let go of her firm belief in the power of prayer. Carol's determination to let it be God's will was an inspiration to all who knew her.

A service to celebrate Carol's life will be held Friday at 4 p.m. at Pine Forest United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Vann Spivey and the Rev. Billy Olsen officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Carol is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, C.B. Mitchell. She also leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Burl Jordon Mitchell and wife, Teresa, of Dudley, Andy Glenn Mitchell and wife, Sabrina, of Rosewood and Larry Wayne Mitchell of Raleigh; her sisters, Dolores Smith of Rosewood, Erline Evans of Raleigh and Barbara Jordan of Goldsboro; her brothers, Ray Jordan of Albemarle, Ben Jordan of Grifton and Robert Jordan of Virginia; and five grandchildren, Justin Mitchell, Matthew Mitchell, Travis Mitchell, Jacob Mitchell and Melissa Mitchell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ollie Kornegay, Shirley Cousins and Catherine Newman.

The family will receive friends Friday following the service in the church fellowship hall, and other times at her residence, 619 Community Drive in Goldsboro.
