MALESSIA ROCHELLE INGRAM

May 28, 1976-Nov. 14, 2010

Malessia Rochelle Ingram gently closed her eyes Sunday evening, Nov. 14, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Hospital. On this day our almighty Heavenly Father, in his infinite wisdom, called the name of "Malessia," a precious mother, aunt, daughter, sister, niece and friend.

She was born May 28, 1976, in Wayne County to Dorothy Inez Ingram Ward of Mount Olive and Jerry Usher of Houston, Texas.

She attended Shaw University, majoring in criminal justice. She continued her education in the criminal justice field at Wayne Community College. Later, she obtained her CNA license at Wayne Community College.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Windsor and Inez Carlton Ingram and Edward and Ruth Usher.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her mother, Dorothy Inez Ward of the home; stepfather, Ronald Ward Sr. of the home; father, Jerry Usher of Houston, Texas; Mr. Van Arthur Anderson, who helped raise her; a son, Malik Ingram of the home; three sisters, Sophea Anderson of the home and Takeata Ashford and Danielle Ashford of Mount Olive; two brothers, Jerry Taheed Walls and Jerry White of Dudley, N.C.; a niece, Kaliyah Michele Phillips of the home; a nephew, Sadiq Kileel Ahmaad Anderson of the home; a special adopted grandmother, Annie Lousie Anderson; nine aunts; eight uncles; and a host of cousins, family and friends.

Malessia was a very loving, high-spirited young lady, who was witty and very giving of herself. She had a giving heart and a love for people. She was always there for her cousins and friends.

Malessia was a seasoned cook who began cooking at the age of 12. She enjoyed sharing her delicious menu, such as ham, collard greens and macaroni cheese. She will greatly be missed by all who knew her and loved her.

A viewing will be held Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home.

A service of remembrance for Ms. Ingram will be held Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church in Mount Olive, N.C. Following the services in the sanctuary, Ms. Ingram and her adored family will be escorted to the Blanchie-Ward Cemetery for final farewell rites.

Services of compassion and distinguished class are rendered by E.M. Matthews Funeral Home.
