GLADYS CANNON SHAFER

Gladys Cannon Shafer, 82, died Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Shafer retired after 30 years of service in the grocery business, in addition to raising five children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and her beloved husband of 60 years, George.
She is survived by a brother, Bryon; three sisters, Elsie, Eilene and Carol; a daughter and her husband, Carol and James Williams; four sons and their wives, Gary and Brenda Shafer, Michael and Joan Shafer, James and Mary Shafer and Wayne and Evelyn Shafer; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren on the way.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with pastor Bill Ordelt officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and also from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, and at other times at the residence, 107 Meadow Road in Goldsboro.
