JAMES E. NORVILLE

James E. Norville 68, 906 N. Audubon Ave., Goldsboro, was born Sept. 24, 1942, in Pinetops, N.C., to the late Willie and Mary Norville.
He quietly answered his master's call Oct. 1, 2010, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
James worked at the Navy Shipyard in Portsmouth, Va., for five years. Later he worked as a construction foreman building houses, and served as a contract painter in Bridgeport, Conn.
James was an auto mechanic for Knox Body Shop. He also was employed as the superintendent at Fort Bragg Military Base in Fayetteville, N.C.
James was a member of Greater Guiding Star United Holy Church, where he accepted Christ into his life. From that day forth, he worshiped and praised God for the great works that He has done in his life.
James was a man of many hobbies. Some of his hobbies included fishing, assembling puzzles, drawing and dancing. He was a very talented man, who loved life and who was very comical.
Left to cherish fond memories are his loving wife of 32 years, Carolyn Norville of the home; his children, Lisa Norville-Cherry (James), Kenneth Norville, Latonia Norville-Stevens (Jesse), Samantha Norville and Jamie Norville-Thompson (Marquis) all of Bridgeport, Conn., and James Norville Jr. of Goldsboro, N.C., two sisters, Bertha Lee Johnson of Tarboro, N.C., and Catherine Wooten of Newport News, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Swanetta Norville of Goldsboro, N.C., and Elizabeth Bridges of Chesapeake, Va.; and a host of granchildren, other relatives and friends.
A visitation for Mr. Norville will take place Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Greater Guiding Star United Holy Church. A service of remembrance will be at 11 a.m. Following the triumphant celebration in the santuary, Mr. Norville, along with his adored family, will be escorted to Old Mill Cemetery for interment rites. Although the family that Mr. Norville leaves behind will not have him there physically to embrace them, the beautiful memories that remain will always sustain them and keep them in perfect peace.
The Norville family is receiving services of compassion and class from E.M. Matthews Funeral Home & Cremations Inc.
