Robert Allen Stocks, 67, passed away Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daylan Mooneyham and the Rev. Davin Phillips officiating. Interment will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with police honors.
Robert was born in Wayne County July 5, 1942, to the late Raymond Allen Stocks and Betty Liverman Stocks.
He began his career in law enforcement March 15, 1964, with the Goldsboro Police Department and served this community for more than 30 years. Robert retired from the Goldsboro Police Department as a lieutenant.
He was a member of the Patetown Church of God.
Robert is survived by his wife, Betty Wells Stocks; his sons; Allen Stocks and wife, Christy, of LaGrange, Bobby Stocks and wife, Allyn, of Pikeville and Chris Stocks and wife, Lindsey, of Pikeville; his grandchildren, Joshua Stocks, Rebekah Stocks, Kayla Stocks, Bobby Stocks Jr., Morris Stocks, Hayleigh Stocks, Leilani Stocks and Isaiah Stocks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Stocks.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. and following the service at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at his home.
