EUREKA -- Catherine Sugg Dawson, 83, 110 W. Martin St., passed away Monday at home.
Funeral services will be held tonight at 7 from the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont, with visitation afterwards. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Eureka Cemetery.
Mrs. Dawson was born in Wayne County Nov. 9, 1926, to the late Morgan and Elizabeth Watkins Sugg.
She was a member of Eureka United Methodist Church.
She was a retired sales associate with Sears.
She is survived by a daughter, Cathy Dawson Barden and husband, John, of Eureka; a brother, Charles Sugg and wife, Brenda, of Goldsboro; three sisters, Elizabeth Rowell of Raleigh, Sally Molin of Winston-Salem and Marion Minshew of Eureka; honorary sisters, Helen White of Greenville and Virginia Chase of Eureka; three grandchildren, Jammie Dawson and wife, Carrie, Cristie Barden and Angela Perry and husband, Justin; and six great-grandchildren, Trae, Colby and Journey Perry and Rylee, Kalee and Emma Dawson.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dawson was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Dawson; a son, William Ray Dawson; a daughter, Kim Elizabeth Dawson; nine brothers and sisters; and an honorary sister, Grace Braxton.
