Alice Pearl Cox, 79, of 507 E. Spruce peacefully passed from labor to reward Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Eulogistic services will held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Luke Church of Christ on Elm St., with pastor David Williams officiating. Her mortal frame will be laid to rest in the Old Mill Cemetery.

Mrs. Cox was born July 20, 1930, to the late Ocie Boykin Shackelford and Oscar Boykin.

She was preceded in the silent halls of death by her husband, Alfred James "AJ" Cox; and one son, James Ervin Cox.

Precious and loving memories are cherished by three daughters, Dorothy Vaught of Japan, Brenda Davis (Thomas) of Portland, Ore., and Alice Faye Cox, of the home; one son, Danny Ray Cox of Mount Vernon, N.Y., two brothers, James Boykin (Irene) of Mount Vernon, N.Y., and Thurman Shackelford (Ruby) of Rocky Mount; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be Monday from 2 until 6 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries, Goldsboro. The family will receive friends at the residence, where they will also assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
