JOSEPH M. LUCAS

Joseph Marshall Lucas, 88, of Goldsboro passed away Friday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at St. Luke U.M.C. with the Rev. Adam Seate officiating. Committal will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends this evening from 7 until 9 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.

He was the son of the late Joseph M. and Berta Hatcher Lucas, and was the husband of Kathy Lucas. Joe was a member of St. Luke U.M.C., the Methodist Men, Woodmen of the World for 55 years, and served in the United States Navy in World War II.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Lucas is survived by two sons, Richard Maurer and wife, Sandra, of Greer, and Steve Maurer of Goldsboro; a daughter, Kathy Slusher and husband, Howard, of Raleigh; and two grandsons, Clint Kirby of Franklinton, and Sgt. Joshua Kirby, currently serving in Iraq.
