JOHNNIE S. BASS

MOREHEAD CITY -- Johnnie Sasser Bass, 59, passed away Tuesday at Carteret General Hospital.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Rosewood First Baptist Church, with burial at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Vernon Braswell and the Rev. David Wheeler officiating.

Mrs. Bass was born in Wayne County May 25, 1950, to the late Clarence Sasser and Lillian Wadsworth Sasser.

She was a member of Rosewood First Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Trey Bass and wife, Alanna, of Edenton and Jordan Amburn of Newport; two daughters, Paula Rackley and husband, Steve, of Kinston and Susan Lilly and husband, Michael, of Newport; two brothers, Jesse Paul Sasser and wife, Peggy, of Rosewood and Kenneth "Gene" Sasser and Rudine of Pikeville; three sisters, Ruth Davis of Rosewood, Carolyn Braswell and husband, Henry, of Rosewood and Marjorie Forbes of Rosewood; four grandchildren, Colin Rackley, Samuel Lilly, Carson Lilly and Gray Bass; 19 nieces and nephews, including a special one, Tim Allen; and her special daschund companion, "Mjowey."

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Graham Bass, and her brother, L.J. Sasser and his wife, Lorraine.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro, and other times at the home of her sister, Ruth Davis, 655 N.C. 581 south in Rosewood.
