EDNA ATKINSON

March 4, 1922-Jan. 21, 2009

Edna Mills Dail Atkinson, 87, passed away Thursday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Princeton. The family will receive friends today from 1 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Atkinson was born March 4, 1922, to the late James Henry Mills and Martha Cannon Mills. She was a faithful member of Gastonia Pentecostal Holiness Church while her health permitted.

She is survived by one son, Aaron "A.C." Dail and wife, Etta, of Kinston; one daughter, Barbara Williams and husband, Fred, of Dudley; one sister, Gladys Johnson of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, Raymond Hinson Jr., David Hinson and wife, Angie, Thomas Hinson and wife, Robin, Meria Hall and husband, Randy, Pamela Turnage and husband, Larry, and William Dail and wife, Cindy; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; and a special nephew, William Heath and wife, Kim.

Mrs. Atkinson was preceded in death by her husbands, John Wesley Dail and Albert Atkinson; one daughter, Elvera Eads; one brother; and four sisters.

The family will receive friends other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Fred Williams, 797 Old Mount Olive Highway in Dudley.
