GERTRUDE LEWIS WILLIAMS

Getrude Lewis Williams, 77, 105 S. Alabama Ave., died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Williams was a 1950 graduate of Central High School and a 1954 graduate of Fayetteville State University. She was a teacher for many years at O'Berry Center, retiring in November 1984 as a training unit supervisor.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m.

A viewing will take place prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m. at Woods Chapel FWB Church, where she was a member. Elder W.C. Hutchins will officiate.

Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park North.

She is survived by her husband, Ervie (Buddy) Williams, of the home; one daughter, Oreta (Lavern) Jacobs and son-in-law, Chester Jacobs of San Diego; three grandchildren, Shayla and Chesteren of San Diego and Yashira (Tim) Jacobs Baggett of Los Angeles; two great-granchildren, Kyren of San Diego and Zilah of Los Angeles; a sister, Annie Liew McLaurin; two brothers, Alfonza Lewis and William Worrell Jr. (Mary) of Goldsboro; an uncle, Napoleon Lewis of Elroy; three aunts, Portia Smith and Bernice Worrell, both of Dudley, and Lucille Worrell of Brooklyn, N.Y.; sisters-in-law, Annie M. Hobbs of Goldsboro and Vera L. Coley of Severn, Md.; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and her numerous "children" who called her "Ma Gert."
