BLACK CREEK -- Nancy Pridgen Parrish Carter, 76, died Sunday.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Drive, followed by burial in Evergreen Memorial Park.

Nancy was widow of Alvin Parrish and Dempsey Carter.

She had retired from Sprint Telephone.

She proudly served as clerk for Lower Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church for more than 35 years.

Surviving are sons, Don Parrish (Marsha) and Al Parrish (Angie) both of Black Creek; grandchildren, Julie Herring, Susan Lewis, Amanda and Lance Parrish; great-grandchildren, Ericka and Suzanne Herring; stepgrandchildren, Robert Strickland (Dawn) and Gary Strickland (Betsy); five stepgreat-grandchildren; and brothers, George C. Pridgen Jr. of Lucama and Tommy Pridgen of Goldsboro.

Special thanks is extended to Carolyn Mercer, her caregiver in her latter days.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn, earlier this year.

The family will be at Wilson Memorial Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
