MARIE D. HEITMANN

Died Dec. 26, 2009

Marie DeMeo Heitmann passed away Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A Catholic Mass to celebrate the life of Mrs. Heitmann will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, with father Tom Norris officiating. Interment will be in Calverton National Cemetery in Long Island, N.Y., at a later date.

She was born in 1920 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the youngest daughter of the late Francesco and Filomena Capece DeMeo.

The many friends of Marie salute her with their loving good-byes and the numerous friends of Marie preceding her in death greet her on the other side. She delighted them and was delighted in turn by their affection, and was always fond of their families.

Marie was a devout parishioner of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church. She was active in the ladies guild, various church fundraisers and as a Eucharistic lay minister.

Mrs. Heitmann is survived by her son, Frank Heitmann of Raleigh; her brother, Nicholas DeMeo of Long Island, N.Y.; grandchildren, Mark Cripe and wife, Cinzia, Dennis Cripe and wife, Donna, Scott Cripe and Andrew Bourdeaux.

She was preceded to their spiritual home by her loving husband, retired Air Force Master Sgt. James Heitmann; daughter, Rose Marie; her two older sisters, Rose DeMeo and Katherine Stephan.

She would be grateful and best remembered if all memorials are put to good work at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1000 N. Jefferson Av., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The family will greet friends Wednesday following the service in the church fellowship hall.
