RAEFORD A. LEE

KINSTON -- Mr. Raeford Allen Lee, 70, passed away Friday at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service, 117 N.W. Third St., Snow Hill. Interment will immediately follow at the Snow Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Wayne Lee of Southwest Christian Church will officiate the services.

A native of Johnston County, he was born the son of Milton Pete Lee and Veva Tart Lee. Mr. Lee put his many talents, primarily as a carpenter and mechanic, to work first at Caswell Center and then later at Cherry Hospital, where he was a maintenance supervisor until his retirement. Even following his retirement, he continued to build and repair as needed for himself, his family, neighbors and friends. Following marriage to his second wife, he transferred his membership to Southwest Christian Church, where he was a very active part of the church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lee was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Kearney Lee; and a granddaughter, Christina Lee.

His surviving family includes his wife, Patricia Mitchell Simmons Lee; sons, Curtis Lee and wife, Sherry, of Calypso, and Kevin Lee and wife, Donna, of Kinston; a sister, Linda Lee Blackmon and husband, Durwood, of Abingdon, Va.; step-daughters, Linda Butler and husband, Ed, of Atlantic Beach and Teresa Smith of Kinston; grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Aaron Lee, Stephen Lee, Erika Lee, Justin Carter, Walt Howard and wife, Millie, and Shawn Howard and wife, Traci; great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, Dylan Collins, Keelin Howard, Gage Howard and Anna Grace Howard; and niece and nephew, Kelley Blackmon Walker and husband, Scott, and Beau Blackmon.

The family will receive friends today from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home, and other times at the residence, 712 Darden Ave., Kinston. Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to Southwest Christian Church Building Fund, 890 Neuse Road, Kinston, NC 28501.
