William Best, 75, of 908 Pittman St., died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Atkinson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 634 S. Oak Forest Road, with pastor Charles Franklin officiating. Burial will be in the Old Mill Cemetery. There will be a viewing today from 3 until 6 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St. The wake will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. at the chapel.

At other times the family will greet friends at the home of his niece, Ms. Dorothy Davis, at 507 Gulley St.

He is survived by a brother, Burden (Nannie) Best; five sisters, Alice Broadhurst and Lola Bourne of Goldsboro, Velma Dockery and Hilda Brown of Jamaica, N.Y., and Willie Mae (Frederick) Taylor of Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Celeste Collins Hilliard of the home; and a son, Reco Rowe of Seattle, Washington. He is also survived by his former wife and care-giver, Sallie J. Best of Goldsboro; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
