LAGRANGE -- Mr. John Berry Meeks Jr., 78, 103 Darrel Drive, died Saturday at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Aubrey Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.
Mr. Meeks was born in Phoenix City, Ala., on Dec. 7, 1930, to the late John Berry Meeks Sr. and Earcle Meeks. He and his wife, Doris Smith Meeks, celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on March 6, 2009. Mr. Meeks was retired from the United States Air Force, as well as from the United States Postal Service.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Meeks is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Johnson of LaGrange and Ruth Price and husband, Tony, of Phoenix, Ariz.; his sister, Ruth Owens of Columbus, Ga.; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
Arrangements are being handled by Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
