Annual car show supports disabled veterans

Hundreds of vehicle enthusiasts are expected to come together to raise money for disabled veterans Nov. 4, as Chevy of Goldsboro will hold its 22nd annual Veterans Day Car Show.
While the exact numbers will not be known until the day of the event, Chevy of Goldsboro spokesperson Jennifer Tindall said the event typically draws a substantial crowd.
"Usually, it's between 150 and 200 vehicle owners, depending on the weather," Tindall said. "When we have great weather, we usually have a great turnout."
The event is open to the public, which leads to another approximately 500 people coming through just to watch, Tindall said.
The car show will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the front lot of Chevy of Goldsboro, at 3300 U.S. 70 Bypass East. The show will be judged in eight groups -- Corvettes, Fords, GM's, Mopars, trucks, foreign vehicles, other manufacturers and motorcycles.
Each group will have a best of show prize worth up to $500, depending on the number of competitors.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy several food vendors. East Coast Wings, Rubbin-N-Grubbin, Devonya Concessions, Coastal Kona Ice and Scoopy Dippy Doo will all be on site.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Wayne County branch of Disabled American Veterans. Registration runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and awards will be given out at 3 p.m.
