The Rosewood wrestling team -- like it's done all season -- dominated the Carolina-Coastal 10-Two Rivers Wrestling Conference Championships Saturday afternoon by sweeping the competition and cruising to a first-place finish.

Rosewood ended the regular season as conference dual and individual tournament champions, going 4-0 and finishing with 234.5 points. The next highest team was Neuse Charter with 140 points.

"It is always interesting to see what happens in our conference individual tournament," said Eagles' head coach Bill Edmundson. "We had wrestlers that lost that were supposed to win, and ones that won, that were supposed to lose. We had a seven-second pin and a match with a score of 38-23. The coaching staff was elated to have all 14 starters place in the top-3."

Individual conference champions included Christian Decatur at 106 pounds, Chris Hill at 113 pounds, Timothy Decatur at 120 pounds, Reid Amodeo at 126 pounds, Louis Tortual at 132 pounds, Jordan Todd at 138 pounds, Joey Behrend at 160 pounds, Cam Helt at 182 pounds and Andrew Wade at 285 pounds.

Runners-up included Seth Finney at 152 pounds, Hunter Weeks at 195 pounds and Noah Carden at 220 pounds. Third place grapplers included Tanner Smith at 145 pounds and Collin Pendergraph at 170 pounds.

"With Friday and Saturday's matches, we are finally getting to the level of physicality and athleticism that are needed to do well in the playoffs," Edmundson said. "The entire team has bought in to the goals we have set and are willing to put in the work to get it done."

The Eagles ended the regular season with a 39-3 record and earned the top seed in the NCHSAA state dual tournament this week.

The playoffs will take place on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Time and locations will be determined later today.
