GAFFNEY, S.C. -- The University of Mount Olive women's basketball team saw its seven-game winning streak halted in an 86-63 road loss to Limestone Saturday evening.

The Saints (16-3, 13-1 CC) opened the matchup with a 5-0 run. That lead was eventually extended to 18-11, but the Trojans (14-4, 12-2 CC) managed to slice it to 22-17 by the end of the first quarter.

The Trojans appeared to gain momentum when Daria Simmons hit a jumper to cut the deficit to 22-19. However, Limestone immediately responded with a 20-5 run to put the score at 42-24 by halftime.

The Trojans' Felicity Havens opened the third quarter with a personal 8-0 run to cut Limestone's lead to 42-32. But by the end of the period, UMO had nothing to show for it as the lead held firm at 62-47.

The game was put further out of reach after the Saints began the fourth quarter with a 7-0 run.

Havens led the Trojans with 26 points and 10 rebounds -- her 12th double-double of the season. Simmons recorded 17 points.

Mount Olive returns to Kornegay Arena on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. matchup with Belmont Abbey.

GAFFNEY, S.C. -- Limestone, the top-ranked team in the Conference Carolinas, handed the University of Mount Olive a 73-62 loss Saturday night.

Midway through the first half, the Trojans (6-15, 5-8 CC) found themselves tied at 11 after a jumper by Jamaal Matin. Limestone (18-3, 12-1 CC) then responded with a 9-0 run. When UMO eventually cut the lead to 30-27, the Saints ended the half on a 7-2 run to make it 37-29 at the half.

Limestone played with a healthy lead for most of the second half. The Saints' advantage moved between six points and 10 points. With less than four minutes left, Limestone boosted its lead to 66-53 and effectively ended any chance for a comeback by the Trojans.

Tayon Gleaves, who was the only Trojan to reach double figures, finished the game with 25 points. Matin added nine points and seven rebounds.
