Luis Lopez collected two assists and one goal as Wayne Country Day blanked defensive-minded Terra Ceia, 5-0, on Thursday afternoon.
The Chargers worked against a scheme that included seven defenders inside the 18-yard box. They managed just one first-half goal -- a Marquise Newell strike off Noah Adkins' assist.
WCDS got second-half goals from Ben Cohen, Nehemiya Shaw, Lopez and David Gurley. Cohen provided an assist.
"We spoke about it (the defense) at halftime and the boys listened, and we dragged the opposition's defense all over (the field) to create space and the goals flowed in," WCDS head coach Steve Ellis said. "We really should have had more than we did. John Thompson had a really good game and was unfortunate to not get on the scoresheet."
