DEEP RUN -- Quarterback Cameron Helt broke loose for the game-winning touchdown on the first play from scrimmage in overtime, Stalen Massengill added the PAT and Rosewood upended South Lenoir, 53-52, on Friday evening.

Helt accounted for 301 yards of total offense and six touchdowns. He completed an efficient 8 of 13 passes for 160 yards and four TDs -- two each to Alex Godwin and Jack White. The senior added 140 yards and two TDs on the ground.

Godwin established career highs in receptions (5), total yards (136) and touchdowns (2). White hauled in two catches for 25 yards.

Tron Blue led the Eagles' rushing attack with 180 yards, including a 76-yard gallop toward the end of the opening quarter.

Rosewood led 35-32 at halftime, but fell behind 39-35 in the third.

White's 20-yard reception and subsquent two-point conversion pass kept the Eagles within striking distance. Stalen Massengill drilled a 30-yard field and converted all three PATs.

Daniel Aburto booted two PATs.

"What a great high school football game," RHS head coach Robert Britt said. "Everybody got their money's worth and then some. Both teams answering the other team's score to the very end. (I'm) so proud of our guys and the effort they played with tonight."

The Eagles have won all four meetings against the Blue Devils.

Rosewood (2-3 overall) launches its Carolina 1-A Conference campaign next Friday at Hobbton. Kickoff is 7 p.m. in Newton Grove.
