GIRLS' GOLF: Cougars' Hales sets school record

KENLY -- Goldsboro's Rylie Hales ripped off a school-record 47 during a nine-hole, multi-team match contested at Cardinal Country Club.
Hales' round included seven bogeys. Ashley Smith shot a 50 that included two pars. Caroline Foy and Rebecca Lanier turned in nine-hole rounds of 59 and 63, respectively.
Hales and Smith are in position to qualify for the N.C. High School Athletic Association eastern regional.
