Eastern Wayne handed Jacksonville White Oak a 7-2, opening-round defeat in the 2016 N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 3-A dual-team playoffs Wednesday afternoon.
The Warriors sealed the outcome in singles play.
Dylan March, Ethan Quinn, Le Solomon, Gray Sasser and Nathan Fleming each collected a point. Solomon rallied past the Vikings' TJ White 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7) at No. 3 singles.
Sasser recovered from first-set loss to defeat Alex Koonce 6-7 (3), 6-4, 1-0 (10-7).
March-Quinn and Solomon-Ian Burchett each won in doubles.
"We came out today a little tentative and rusty," EW head coach Craig Hassell said. "White Oak has many athletes and played extremely tough today. However, I was really pleased with many of our players pulling out third-set victories. Those kids showed a lot of heart and experience."
The Warriors (12-3 overall) travel to Chapel Hill next Tuesday.
