ECC 3A-4A TRACK: Warriors' Hartsfield, Johnson have good days

GREENVILLE -- Eastern Wayne's Blake Hartsfield earned the male athlete-of-the-year and Natasha Johnson walked away with two gold medals during the season-ending Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference track and field championship meet ran at J.H. Rose on Wednesday afternoon.
Hartsfield picked up gold medals in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, and participated on the Warriors' 400 relay, which took first place in a blistering 42.64 seconds. He was joined by Nation Best, KK Best and Robert Gonzalez. The group earned all-conference honors.
The Warriors' foursome of Jaylan Graham, Daniel Best, N. Best and Tu'Alonzo Farrior claimed the 1,600 relay in 3:33.09. Teammate Coriante Foye won the high jump (6 feet).
Charles B. Aycock's tandem of Trevor Holt and Joseph Mooneyham combined for three gold medals. Holt shattered his own school records in the discus (139 feet) and shot put (50 feet, 1 inch). Mooneyham defended his ECC crown in the 3,200 with time of 10 minutes, 46.68 seconds.
Holt, Mooneyham and Kamarion Graham (second in the 200 dash) each earned all-ECC accolades.
Southern Wayne's TJ Graham joined the list of Wayne County all-ECC performers with a first-place time of 15.54 seconds in the 110 hurdles.
On the girls' side, Johnson out-paced the field in the 100 dash (12.15 seconds) and 200 (25.88). She earned all-conference accolades in both events and signed a national letter-of-intent today with Winston-Salem State University.
Eastern Wayne competitors secured ECC titles in two events -- Deyja Middleton (shot put) and Treycie Ford (triple jump). Teammate Fiona Pedrick claimed the gold medal in the 3,200 with a time of 12:44.57.
The Warriors placed second in the team portion of the meet with 120 points.
Southern Wayne's quartet of Erykah Baldwin, Kiarra Wallace, Machiah Moore and Cierra Thompson emerged as the 400-meter relay champion in 50.5 seconds. Baldwin also won the long jump (16 feet, 3/4 inches). Alexus Elliott placed first in the discus with a throw of 88 feet, 1 inch.
Aycock's Cyerra Carter won the high jump (5 feet).
