Princeton edges softball archrival North Johnston, 2-1

KENLY -- Hailey Wood logged a game-ending strikeout as Princeton edged county archrival North Johnston, 2-1, on Friday evening.
Tied at 1-all through six innings, the Bulldogs struck in the top half of the seventh.
Taylor Flowers drew a lead-off walk, but was picked off at third during Megan Bryant's sacrifice bunt. Brianna Myers drove home Bryant with a single up the middle. The inning ended on a line-drive out by Taylor Carroll.
The Panthers had couldn't capitalize on two walks and a single in the bottom of the seventh. Princeton's defense threw one runner out at the plate and Wood delivered her game-ending strikeout.
Wood yielded seven hits and retired 12 NJ batters on strikeouts. She doubled and singled in three at-bats. Bryant, Myers and Kelsey Peedin each had one hit.
