CLERMONT, Fla. -- The University of Mount Olive softball team opened its spring break trip with a 6-4 victory over Nyack and a 5-3 triumph over Wayne State (Neb.) on Sunday afternoon.

The Trojan women erased a 4-1 deficit against Nyack with a five-run explosion in the bottom of the fourth inning. UMO capitalized on two walks and two errors in the inning.

Caitlin Ewers' lead-off single sparked a three-run second inning against Wayne State.

Madison Johnston (5-4) had her bid for a third straight shutout inside the pitcher's circle denied in the bottom of the sixth inning. Reliever Julie Hodges overcame a lead-off double in the seventh and earned her first-ever collegiate save.

Mount Olive (8-10 overall) faced Pittsburgh-Johnstown this morning and had an early-afternoon contest against Upper Iowa. The Trojan women will play eight games in a five-day stretch during their trip.

BALTIMORE -- No. 2-ranked Le Moyne University uncorked a 6-0 run in the opening half and handed No. 15-ranked University of Mount Olive a 12-5 defeat on the Johns Hopkins University campus Sunday evening.

Le Moyne emerged as the NCAA Division II national runner-up to Limestone (S.C.) College last season.

Brett Kingston connected on consecutive goals to push the Trojan stickmen in front, 2-1, during the opening quarter. The Dolphins (3-0 overall) answered with a game-tying goal and took the lead for good 45 seconds later on Logan Thomas' goal.

Matt Shields scored to close the gap to within 4-3.

However, Le Moyne held UMO scoreless for 29 minutes and the Trojan stickmen eventually suffered their second defeat in their last three outings. Tyler Feniello finished 10 for 18 in faceoffs, Luke Morris caused three turnovers and keeper Rocky Bowman logged seven saves between the pipes.
