ROBERSONVILLE -- South Creek benefited from a throwing error in the bottom of the seventh inning and knocked out Spring Creek, 1-0, in opening-round action of the NCHSAA 1-A playoffs Tuesday evening.
The Gators' Rachel McCollum threw a no-hitter and recorded eight strikeouts inside the circle. The junior right-hander added a hit offensively along with Ashley Marriner and Daisy Martinez.
"The girls played perfect defense all the way through until the end," SC head coach Lester Boltinhouse said. "I am just unbelievably proud of what we have accomplished this season."
