HIGH POINT -- Bonus points.

Multiple spring championships.

A total of 13 first- or second-place finishes.

The University of Mount Olive used all those scoring factors to sweep the Joby Hawn Cup competition sponsored by Conference Carolinas for the second time in the last three years. The Trojans won the overall and men's titles outright, and shared the women's crown with Limestone (S.C.) College.

The Trojans seized championships in five spring sports -- men's tennis, men's and women's track field, softball and baseball. They claimed runner-up honors in men's volleyball and men's lacrosse during regular-season and tournament play.

UMO finished with a league-high .903 overall percentage based on the number of sports the program offers within conference play. Limestone placed second, followed by King (Tenn.) University and Erskine. Barton completed the top five.

On the men's side, the Trojans compiled a league-record .987 percentage and racked up 78 total points. They either won or finished runner-up in seven of 10 sports and beat Limestone by 15.5 points.

Erskine took third place.

On the women's side, UMO earned valuable points from solid performances in indoor/outdoor track, softball, women's golf, women's cross country and women's basketball.

The Trojans shared the Cup championship with Limestone, which advanced to the Elite Eight in women's basketball.

King captured third place.

The Hawn Cup is awarded to the league member schools that show the highest rating of excellence in men's and women's conference-sponsored sports. Cup points are tallied upon completion of the fall, winter and spring seasons; and then awarded to the winning schools in memory of H.C. "Joby" Hawn, former commissioner of the conference.
