Princeton dominates Gates County in opening-round 1A softball playoffs

PRINCETON -- Hailey Wood doubled and tripled for Princeton during a 20-0, mercy-rule conquest of Gates County in first-round play of the NCHSAA 1-A playoffs Wednesday evening.
The Bulldogs (15-4 overall) entertain South Creek either Friday or Saturday. A game time and date had not been determined at press time.
Kasey Johnson drove in three runs against the Red Barons. Charley Cox, Beth Braswell and Tori Paul each drove in two. Logan Pace, Taylor Carroll, Savanna Massengill and Kelsey Peedin also drove in runs for the Bulldogs.
Kasey Johnson and Paul combined for six strikeouts and held Gates County to one hit in the five-inning game.
