Cannon's 3-hit effort sparks North Lenoir

La GRANGE -- Orlando Cannon belted out three hits during North Lenoir's opening-round, 10-0 victory over Jacksonville Northside in the NCHSAA Class 2-A playoffs.
Ethan Pittman, Noah Reese and Landon Letchworth provided two hits apiece. Luke Jackson, Tyler Smith, Jacob Baird and Daron Gray also contributed at the plate.
Smith threw a complete-game, two-hitter on the mound. He struck out eight in the six-inning, mercy-rule affair.
North Lenoir (17-5 overall) plays host to Edenton Holmes on Friday. First pitch is 7 p.m. at Alphin Field.
