Hawks cruise past Rams in ECC 2A baseball

La GRANGE -- Tyler Smith homered to lead North Lenoir to a 10-4 win over Eastern Carolina 2-A conference foe Greene Central at Alphin Field on Monday afternoon.
Smith got the pitching win in a five-inning stint. He allowed three runs on four hits, struck out four and walked four. Orlando Cannon pitched in relief.
Daron Gray, Seth Beard and Luke Jackson had two hits apiece for the Hawks.
Seven different hitters contributed to the Rams' offensive cause. Justin Lee led the team with two RBI and Bryce Norman added an RBI. Austin Mooring endured the loss on the mound.
Greene Central (4-15 overall, 2-5 ECC) entertains South Lenoir today, while North Lenoir (14-5, 7-1) is the guest of Goldsboro.
