Boys' tennis

Wayne Christian 6, Rosewood 3

* Wayne Christian avenged a loss to Rosewood earlier in the week with a 6-3, non-conference victory over the Eagles at Wayne Community College on Thursday afternoon.

Christopher Easom, Daniel Glover, Nicholas Easom and Matthew Jackson each collected singles victories for Wayne Christian. The doubles teams of Christopher Easom-Glover and Kenneth Giordano-Woody Sasser also prevailed.

Zach Behrend and Cole Radcliff both supplied a singles victory for Rosewood. The tandem of Radcliff-Fuad Ismail was also victorious.

Wayne Christian (3-2 overall) entertains The Oakwood School on Monday, while Rosewood (6-1) plays host to Wayne Country Day.

Eastern Wayne 8, South Johnston 1

* Eastern Wayne sailed past Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference rival South Johnston 8-1 on Thursday afternoon in New Hope.

Mike Barnette, Steven Taylor, Rafael Guerra, Joseph Chaney, Mitchell Kaspar and Cole Newsome were all winners in singles play. The doubles teams of Barnette-Kaspar and Taylor-Newsome also prevailed.

The Warriors (7-2 overall, 6-1 ECC) entertains Cleveland on Monday.

C.B. Aycock 8, Triton 1

* PIKEVILLE -- Three-time defending Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference regular-season champion Charles B. Aycock dominated Triton 8-1 on Thursday afternoon.

Will Hoff, Michael Kearney, Bradley Wilson, Austin Walker and Rex Rose each recorded singles wins. The tandems of Hoff-Kearney, Wilson-Walker and Sam Chastain-Sam Pierce all earned doubles victories.

The Golden Falcons (10-1 overall, 6-0 ECC) travel to North Lenoir on Monday.

Softball

C.B. Aycock 4, D.H. Conley 2

* GREENVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock survived for a 4-2, non-conference win at D.H. Conley on Thursday.

The Golden Falcons scored a pair of runs in the third and fifth innings.

Connor Davis contributed two hits and an RBI. Seven other Aycock players recorded a hit.

Brooke Bell (6-3) earned the win in the pitcher's circle. The right-hander allowed one earned run on two hits with three strikeouts and a walk in four innings.

Ashley Shingleton pitched the final three innings to record the save.

The Golden Falcons (8-3 overall) visit Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference foe Southern Wayne on Tuesday.

Baseball

James Kenan 2, Lakewood 0

* WARSAW -- Tyler Haney pitched a complete-game, two-hit shutout and James Kenan defeated Tri-County 1-A rival Lakewood 2-0 on Thursday.

Haney, who already has a no-hitter to his credit this season, recorded 12 strikeouts and no walks.

Ricky Langston went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Tigers. Haney had two hits and an RBI. Daniel Bostick (RBI) and Kedron Foster both contributed a hit.

James Kenan (5-5 overall, 2-2 TCC) visits Midway on Tuesday.

Girls' soccer

C.B. Aycock 7, Princeton 0

* PRINCETON -- Cheyenne Warrick scored four goals and C.B. Aycock rolled past Princeton 7-0 on Thursday night.

Warrick tallied two assists and has scored 29 goals this season. Madison Mercer contributed two goals and two assists. Emily Borel also scored in the second half .

Katie Sheeks and Britni Hauver both had an assist.

Casey Scarboro recorded five saves in goal.

The Golden Falcons (8-2 overall) face Southern Wayne on Tuesday at Mount Olive College.

Girls' track

Eastern Wayne 77.5,

North Lenoir 75.5, Cleveland 17

* Eastern Wayne squeaked out an Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference tri-meet with North Lenoir and Cleveland on Thursday.

The Warriors finished with 77.5 points and the Hawks had 75.5. The Rams compiled a score of 17.

Eastern Wayne's Tamika Williford finished first in the 400 meters. Brenda Hutchins won the shot put and Brianna Coleman prevailed in the 200 meters.

The Warriors visit Triton on March 31.

Triton 83, C.B. Aycock 75,

Southern Wayne 52,

South Johnston 43

* FOUR OAKS -- Triton claimed a four-team Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference meet at South Johnston on Thursday.

The Hawks finished with 83 points ahead of second-place Charles B. Aycock's score of 75. Southern Wayne was third with 75 and South Johnston was fourth with a score of 43.

The Golden Falcons' Kendra Speight was first in the 1,600 meters and Dobbs won the 100 meter hurdles.

Aycock's 3,200-meter relay team was also victorious.

JV sports

* Baseball: C.B. Aycock d. Rosewood -- Timothy Naughton batted 2-for-2 with an RBI and swiped three bases in the Golden Falcons' mercy rule-shortened win. Ben Rouse, Conner Crandall (RBI) and Dylan Hinnant (three RBI) recorded two hits apiece and combined for four stolen bases. Taylor Phillips drove in two runs and Jacob Harrison added an RBI. Dustin James emerged the winning pitcher. C.B. Aycock (9-1 overall) plays host to Southern Wayne on Tuesday.

Middle schools

* Baseball: Dillard 14, Greenwood 13 -- Miguel Lugo earned the win on the mound with 14 strikeouts. Lugo was 2 for 4 at the plate with a pair of doubles. Quarus Hill supplied a two-run single and Denzel Dancy added a three-run double.

* Softball: Princeton 26, Benson 4 -- Kelsey Peedin led Princeton with five hits. Carlie Cox, Taylor Carroll and Kasey Johnson all had three hits. Hailey Wood, Kasey Edwards, Bre Williams and Emily Woodard each had two hits. Jenna Woodard and Hannah Davis both contributed a hit. Johnson and Wood combined for eight strikeouts in the pitcher's circle. Princeton visits Cleveland Middle School on Tuesday.
